Wishing you a new year feast....

It is New Year's Day today, and all over the world, people are waking up in various stages of joy and regret.  New Year's Day is day of promise, of dreams as yet unfulfilled but also uncrushed.  On this day, we can hope for a new start for ourselves or others, we can plan a new strategy, we can use it to begin or end something that  will enhance our lives.  We can make resolutions with a whole 365 days ahead in which to make them happen.

It is, in short, a day of celebrating the possibilities, and looking ahead to the future.  I am on board.

I am not sad or sorry to see 2011 go.  It has been an awkward year, a difficult year, a year of  confusion and hard consequences in several ways.  I, like many in this stressed out world, am looking forward to a fresh start with fresh opportunities in 2012, and awaiting the bounty that God has promised those who trust in him.  In Leviticus 26 verse 10, we read: "You will still be eating last year's harvest when you will have to move it out to make room for the new."  (NIV)

Many people today are starving from the famine of positive events in their lives. While we cannot control our own fortune, we can always try to find the positive things to celebrate in each new day. While I wait in anticipation for the feast that God will provide in this new year, I will remember that a snack is sometimes just as filling as a meal.  I will look for the bounty I have been provided already, and be thankful for the many blessings I have already received.

Happy New Year to you and yours from me and mine.  Wishing God's feast of wonderful blessings on you as you begin anew with a refreshed spirit!
