Calling you....

It seems that lately we have become a culture of negativity.  No matter what is suggested, someone will rush to point out why it won't work, how it cannot happen, what the problems will be.  The criticism and negative feedback from the world at large are often so overwhelming, we fail to even begin, much less finish, what we originally felt excited to accomplish.

This Can't Do attitude is not what God wants from us.  The hatred and separation of the world is not part of God's plan, but rather the vision of Satan when he was tempting Jesus.  Thwarting God's will and degrading our soul remains his vision today.

We cannot continue to let Satan have his way if we want to honor our Savior and be servants of God.  We have to refocus our vision, sweep away the evil influences that surround us, and bring the Light of the World back to the world.  We cannot do much on our own, it is true.  But when we cast our eyes, and our spirit, towards God, anything is possible.  In Romans 8:28 we read,
"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to HIS purpose."
The verse ends with the words HIS purpose by design.  It is not about our ideas.  It is not about our intentions.  It is about HIS plan for  HIS world and HIS people.  Although a difficult thing, to be part of the world but not of the world, God has set a road map for each one of us, and if we follow his plan, his intentions will be made known.

I belong to a very small church, and we have set ourselves a monumental task.  Without the vision of what God wants from us, without the calling that we feel from God to make a change in our own small part of the universe, we will never move forward, because the hill is too steep and we will become weary.  But with God, all things are possible.  Whatever we offer in the way of our time and our talents and our resources are simply returning the gifts to the one who blessed us in the first place.  God has given his all for us, we can do no less for him.

If we remember each day that God is working in the world through each one of us, how can we be negative and spread the message of gloom that is currently so popular?  Light a candle in the darkness of hate and despair, and look to God for your purpose.  We are a family, brothers and sisters in Christian love.  It is time to gather together and work for His purpose.

Are you going to be a part of the joyful message of God's love and sacrifice, or are you sliding into the darkness that is the world?  Whatever your talents or abilities or resources, God is calling you.  How will you answer him?
